On March 28, 2001, we visited the Moche Pyramids of Túcume, a collection of 26 badly eroded adobe mounds excavated by Thor Heyerdahl.
There is a large natural mountain located near the center of the pyramid complex. While I was dowsing, I found several lines running toward the mountain peak or "apu" in the center, but the site was too vast and time was too short for me to make any kind of thorough survey.
When I returned from my hike to the top of the mountain, our guide, Arturo Cervantes, asked me what I thought of the place. I told him that it was complicated and there were too many details missing to really understand the original design. Arturo said that possibly I saw it that way because my culture has a complicated way of looking at things. He told me that the original design of the site was actually very simple... "It is in the form of a spider web, with the natural mountain or apu located at the center."
