After the discussion at Marlon's, I tried a few experiments. I found a section in my yard that was free of any dowsable lines, pulled a garden hose across the area and turned on the water. There was a strong dowsing response directly over the garden hose. I turned off the water and put the hose away. Then, as an afterthought, I dowsed the area again. Much to my surprise, I still received a strong response where the garden hose had been. Water leaves an energy trail in the environment that persists for several days after the water has been removed.
